Russia doesn’t believe in the shale gas revolution in the Ukraine

Gazprom treats skeptically the threat of shale gas competition.

Today there is not possibility of the gas revolution in the Ukraine and in Europe in general, the head of “Gazpromexport”, A. Medvedev, said.

According to him, the evidence to that is not that promising results of the trial drilling in Poland.

The Ukraine borders Poland, and I don’t think the results will be radically different from the experimental exploration, he said.

Today Gazprom plans to strengthen its positions in the European gas markets in the coming decade not planning serious price reductions despite of the rise in competition.

According to Mr. Medvedev, the company signed the long-term contracts for the sale of 4 trln cubic m of gas in Europe for more than $1.5 trln at the current prices.

On Jan 24th the agreement between Shell and “Nadra Yuzovskaya” (the Ukraine) on the production sharing from the shale gas production at the Yuzovsky site in the Kharkov and Donetsk regions was signed. The forecast resources of the deposit are assessed at 4.054 trln cubic m of gas.
