NLMK DanSteel improves efficiency of massive plate production for offshore structures

NLMK DanSteel A/S, the enterprise of NLMK Europe Massive Plate, the Danish Technical University (DTU), Lipetsk State Technical University (LSTU) and the municipality of Halsnes (Frederiksvaerk, Denmark) have signed a declaration of cooperation, aimed at improving the efficiency of the technological process of the massive plate production for the production of offshore wind farms and structures.

The parties joined their forces to find and introduce innovative solutions that will reduce the impact on the environment during production of massive plates, increase the life span and reliability of offshore structures, as well as decrease the cost of their production.

At present, 28% of electricity is produced by wind farms in Denmark. The Danish Government plans to increase the share of renewable generation in the country's energy balance to 50% by 2020 and to 100% by 2050.
