Metalware consumption in Russia to go down by 2% in 2013 against 2012

A.Shevelev, CEO of “Severstal-metiz”, said at the conference “Wire-fittings-2013”, which takes place in the city Orel. Any imports will go up insignificantly. In H1, 2013 import made up 11% of the consumption. The import increases mainly from the Ukraine.
The development of the sector is caused, first of all, by a significant share of import at the current excess capacity on the domestic market. It means low profitability of sales of simple products, insufficient investment into the replacement and updating of capacities and loss of the competitive ability in the long run.
