Severstal raises efficiency of its energy capacities

The chief engineer of Severstal Russian Steel A. Lutsenko reports that they have begun the fundament construction of an aggregate installation at the Cherepovets mill for the reconstruction of turbogenerator #4. The project cost  is 1.6 billion roubles. It's aimed at the renewal of the energy capacities of the mill and the reduction of expenses into production. The new turbogenerator made by Shin Nippon Machinery differes from the former one by its capacity, 50 MW instead of 25 MW, and by its construction, the presence of steam taker with the capacity of 20 kg*sec/cubic cm. The putting of the aggregate into operation will  increase its own power production by 30 million kW per hour and reduce expenses into power purchases to 163 million roubles annually, and to save 94 million roubles at blast furnace gas burning. The start of turbogenerator assembling and installation of additional equipment are planned for the beginning of October. The reconstruction will be finished in Q1 2012.
