Serbian politics hits "Gazpromneft".

Belgrade is investigating the privatization of NIS.

On the background of the sharp deterioration in relations between Russia and the EU, Serbia once again raised the issue of the NIS oil company privatization for an understated price, which in 2008 was sold to "Gazpromneft". Perhaps the reason for this is that Belgrade wants to get more income from NIS: Alexander Vucic, the Prime Minister of the country, has already raised the issue of increasing the dividends. According to another version, investigating the deal, Serbia, not being a member of the EU, is trying to manoeuvre on the background of the conflict between Moscow and Brussels.

Nebojsa Stefanovic, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, ordered the creation of an investigation team to study the circumstances surrounding the privatization of the largest oil company of the country – NIS, 51% of which "Gazpromneft" acquired in 2008. The ministry did not explain to "the Kommersant" the reason why the investigation started five years after the closing of the transaction. In the past two months Belgrade faced with criticism of another transaction - the sale of the local air carrier JAT to the Saudi Etihad in 2013. In response Alexander Vucic promised to publish all the major conditions of the large state assets sale in the recent years.
