Court of the Ukraine refused Gazprom in cassational claim return upon a $3.5 bln fine

​Previously the Economic Court of Kiev left without the consideration the claim of Gazprom on the appeal of the fine of the Anti-Monopoly Committee of the Ukraine.

The Supreme Economic Court of the Ukraine rejected the claim of appeal of Gazprom on proving void the decisions of Courts of lower instances to leave without consideration the claim of appeal of the decision of the Anti-Monopoly Committee of the Ukraine on the collection of a fine of 85.966 bln grivnas.

The Court made this decision on Wednesday.

On January 22nd 2016 the Anti-Monopoly Committee of the Ukraine fined Gazprom for the abuse of its monopoly position at gas transit via the Ukraine.

Gazprom said that the Anti-Monopoly Committee of the Ukraine is not authorized to settle issues of gas transit via the Ukraine but on the last possible day of filing a claim – April 12th – registered a claim at the Economic Court of Kiev on proving void this decision of the Anti-Monopoly Committee of the Ukraine.
