Power of Siberia to reach Shanghai

On June 29th in Heihe, a city on the border of China on the bank of the Amur river, the construction of the Chinese part of the Power of Siberia started. D. Medvedev said the construction of this site would significantly expand the cooperation of Russia and China not only in the energy sphere but in the connected with it sectors. The pipeline will allow to ship gas to many Russian towns and villages, and consequently will give an impetus to their development. The Vice-Prime Minister of the State Council of China, Chzhan Gaoli said that similar large projects create a serious material basis for the promotion of the strategic partnership between Russia and China, for socio-economic progress of our countries and peoples.

In October 2014 Beijing approved the plan of construction of the pipeline on the territory of China which will connect Power of Siberia with Shanghai. In fact the works on the construction of the energy corridor in China started a month ago. Both parties plan to complete the construction by 2018.
