In 2015, Mechel increased the coal mining by 2% to 23 million tons, the company reports. At the end of 2014, the figure was 22.6 million tons. The pig iron production increased by 3% to 4 million tons in 2015, the steel production grew by 1% and amounted to 4.3 million tons.
