Kiev’s debts fill up the cup of Dmitry Medvedev

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has given the political signal to Gazprom for the immediate transfer of the Ukraine to prepayment for gas, which must be supplied without discounts. In his opinion, “it’s time to stop fussing over Kiev” and the payment of the Ukrainian gas debts “is not a reason for discussions” with the European Commission. At the same time, the Ukraine has a theoretical possibility to avoid prepayments by paying off the debt – for example, $2.2 billion as of beginning of April. But Kiev, received the first tranche from the International Monetary Fund, is on firm ground and disputes even amount of debts for gas, received by the Ukraine with all discounts before April.
