Navoy mining and metallurgical plant to be modernized in Uzbekistan

​“The Navoy mining and metallurgical plant” (NGMK) in 2015 will hold a production modernization with the value of $158 mln, a representative of the enterprise said. In particular, the plant will hold a technical retooling of the objects of gold and uranium production for $57.7 mln.

“It is planned to spend $70.5 mln for the production expansion at the processing capacities in Zarafshan and construction of tailing facilities in Uchkuduk etc.”, is reported.

The projects will be financed on the account of NGMK’s own funds and loans of the Uzbek banks.

NGMK is the main gold producer and the only uranium producer in Uzbekistan. Gold production at NGMK recently made up over 60 tons with the total gold extraction of metal of about 90 tons in Uzbekistan. NGMK unites 4 metallurgical plants in Navoi (GMZ-1), Zarafshan (GMZ-2), Uchkuduk (GMZ-3) and Zarmitan (GMZ-4).
