If South Stream main gas pipeline is constructed through Crimea, its cost to decrease by $2 billion. Is it profitable?

If the  route of the construction of the South Stream main gas pipeline goes  through Crimea, its cost may decrease by $2 billion, specialists of a popular magazine think.

Previously, analysts of Ukrainian Centre of globalistics talked about possibility of the route adjustment and even published maps of alternative laying of the pipeline.

These maps show that if South Stream is constructed through Crimea, the most expensive marine section of the pipe can be cut by twice.

It became known on March 11th of 2014 that the EU was going to suspend cooperation with Russia on the South Stream main gas pipeline.
