Ufa wants to retrieve a share in Bashneft
After just two weeks after by the court’s decision AFK Systema gave about 72% of Bashneft’s shares to Federal Property Management Agency, a new challenger on the package appeared. In late December, the head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov asked Vladimir Putin to transfer a share in the company to the republic. It is not clear about what package he talked, the government must submit its proposals on this issue before January 22.
At the end of December 2014, the head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov sent a letter to Vladimir Putin, in which he asked the Russian President to consider the possibility of transferring the state share in Bashneft to the republic. This was reported by the Interfax, which referred to its source and confirmed by sources of the Kommersant, familiar with the situation. 71.6% of the Bashneft’s shares, seized by the court at the end of the previous year from AFK Systema at the suit of the General Prosecutor’s Office, are on the balance of the Federal Property Agency. The press centre of the Russian President doesn’t comment on the situation. The Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Economy and the Federal Property Management Agency of the Russian Federation must submit their responses to the proposal of the head of Bashkortostan during one month from the date of the letter receipt, i.e. before January 22.
