The closure of Martin furnaces will lead to growth in electric steel smelting

The closure of Martin furnaces will lead to a growth in the share of electric steel smelting in the total Russian yield by 39% to 2020, by 12.3% more than last year, according to the project of the Russian state program about the industry development by 2020. The Russian Government awaits such a result after the realization of the sub-program ‘Metallurgy’ that will be executed within 2 stages. The first one will be realized in 2012-2015, and the second one will be realized in 2016-2020. They await that Russia will increase growth in metal items production and consumption, and reduce the coefficient of depreciation of fixed assets from 42.5% to 22%, as it is in average in the world, and reduce the emission of polluted waste water by 50% and waste emission to the atmosphere by 24%
