Russia has confirmed the shutdown of South Stream to EU

Russia has officially notified the European Commission of the shutdown of South Stream. The Vice President of the European Commission, M. Shevchovich, learnt about it from the Minister of Energy of Russia, A. Novak.

M. Shevchovich got connected with Mr. Novak to discuss Russia’s further plans upon this project. In response the Minister confirmed the earlier made announcement that Russia would not realize South Stream.

On the results of the talk the European Commission announced of its plans to found a working group which will deal with the issues of energy safety of former participants of the project out of the countries-EU members. It is about Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Italy, Romania, Slovenia and Croatia.
