Severstal to construct the second ladle-furnace at CherMK

​The investment into the project will make up 3 bln roubles, it will be put into operation at the end of 2017.

Severstal has announced of the start of realization of the project of construction of the second ladle-furnace at the Cherepovets metallurgical plant.

The main goal of the investment project is the growth of production of converter steel up to 84 castings a day or over 10 mln tons a year (a record converter steel making is 9.5 mln tons). The project capacity of the new unit will be 4.8 mln tons a year.

According to the CEO of “Severstal Russia Steel“, S. Toropov, the value of the ladle-furnace #2 is about 3 bln roubles. The new equipment will allow to unify the technology of out-of-the-furnace steel treatment and provide 100% steel preparation for casting at one aggregate, significantly improve the quality of products and cut the expenditure, he said.

The planned economic effect of the project will make up about 700 mln roubles a year.
