Germany rejects coal. Chance for Gazprom?
Germany has rejected nuclear power industry and is now considering the possibility of the rejection of coal power industry. If this happens, the market may see a ripple effect, because Germany is a major player on the European energy market.
The emphasis of Germany on renewable energy sources has already an impact on the electricity market in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Last week, the conservative Government of Chancellor Angela Merkel issued a controversial document, which proposed to introduce the most stringent regulations for the coal industry. Europe have not yet resorted to such strict measures, and Germany plans to do it to create an energy system, built around renewable energy sources.
