Russia reduced ferrous metals export by 9.2%

Russia reduced ferrous metals export by 9.2% to 27.25 million tons in January-September 2013 against the same period in 2012. Russia increased steel pipes imports from abroad 1.7 fold to 335.3 thousand tons, the Federal Customs Service reports.The ferrous metal reduction is due to the refocusing of the primary producers to the domestic market, the participants of the market note.

Ferrous metal export is down by 16.2% to $14.747 billion in monetary terms in January-September 2013. The deliveries to non-CIS countries decreased by 13% to 22.8 million tons at a total $11.8 billion, however, to the CIS countries they increased by 18% to 4.1 million tons at $2.96 billion
