In Q3, UC Rusal decreased aluminium production by 8.4% to 954 thousand tons

Due to the suspension of production at UC Rusal’s least efficient plants in the European part of Russia, the volume of the aluminium production made up 954 thousand tons in the third quarter of 2013 that is by 3.8% less than 992 thousand tons, produced in the second quarter of 2013 and by 8.4% less than 1 042 thousand tons, produced in the third quarter of 2012, the company’s press release reports.

In the first nine months of 2013, 2 953 thousand tons were produced that is by 5.8% less than in the same period of the previous year. According to the company, this dynamics reflects the implementation of the production decrease program and mainly concerns the suspension of the production at several plants of the company in the European part of Russian in the Urals, particularly at the Volgograd, Uralsk, Volkhov, Bogoslovsk and Nadvoitsk aluminium plants and at the first stage of the Novokuznetsk aluminium plant and the ALSCON plant in Nigeria.
