Rosgeologiya has started research works for platinum group metals in Murmansk region

​Rosgeologiya has started the research works for platinum group metals at the Monchegorsky ore field in the Murmansk region. The works are held by the state contract signed in the summer between Rosgeologiya and the Department for Subsoil Use of the North-western federal district.

The main contractor is the affiliate of Saint-Petersburg complex geological expertise JSC.

Geologists are to assess the platinum contents of the Nittis-Kumuzhiya-Travyanaya and Nyud-Moroshkovoe sites, find out large-scale ore occurrences of platinum group metals and assess forecast resources of platinum group metals by P2 and P1 categories. Specialists hope to localize the objects with the total resources of 100 tons. In the framework of the project geologists are to study 2 sites with the total area of 24.8 sq km.

On the results of the magnetic and electric prospecting anomaly forming objects of ore nature will be discovered which will be proven by the mining and drilling works.
