The price of petrol starts to decrease for the first time since the beginning of 2014

Stock petrol prices are falling during the week, they decreased by 1.3-1.5% from September, 5th. The order of President Putin to the FAS’ head Artemyev not to permit the increase in the fuel price played its role, as well as the increased sales of petrol from oil companies. However, the decline in wholesale prices is unlikely to affect the retail ones.

In September 5-11th of 2014, the stock price of petrol at the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange (SPIMEX) decreased by 1.5% for AI-92 petrol and by 1.3% for the A-95 petrol to $1 102.96 rubles and $1 122.68 per ton respectively. Until now, the wholesale prices have been increasing constantly that forced players of the retail fuel market to seek help from the authorities.
