Gazprom has received three new licenses for fields in the Kara and Barents Seas. The company will pay 22.4 billion rubles for the right to develop sites with the total gas resources in the amount of over 1.5 trillion cubic meters. Analysts think that extension of the resource base can’t help to solve the problem of low gas demand at the main sale markets and Gazprom will have to develop the fields with a view to consumers in the Asia-Pacific region.
