Russian Government obliges Rosneft and Gazprom to report about their plans on the construction of vessels when they receive offshore licenses

On May 6, the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev made a change in the Rosnedra’s regulations, according to which Gazprom and Rosneft, applying for a shelf license, should indicate how many ships and marine equipment they plan to build for the development of the site, as well as when they will built them and at which shipyards.

In addition, since 2019 the use of vessels and marine equipment of foreign production will be possible only under the condition that the company has also ordered vessels from Russian manufactures. The Ministry of Natural Resources confirmed to the Kommersant that it was initiator of these changes, and they were aimed at import substitution.
