Trutnev asks gold miners to respect Russia’s interests

​The Vice-Prime Minister of the Government – plenipotentiary representative of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District, Y. Trutnev, held a meeting in Magadan upon the settlement of the issues connected with the realization of the projects of development of the Natalka gold ore deposit. “Matrosov Mine”, (RiM OJSC, in the structure of Polyus Gold, uniting the assets of Polyus Gold OJSC) previously announced of massive firing due to the transfer of dates of the project’s launch. The employer planned to fire 78.5% of personnel or over 1,100 people within 2 years.

The CEO of Polyus Gold OJSC, P. Grachev, said that the company had turned away from its initial plans and would fire by twice less employees. Over 100 people were already fired in 2014. On April 1st 2015 another 450 people will be fired.

Polyus Gold GC is ready to provide 400 vacant places at its mining objects in other regions of Russia, for example, in Sakha (Yakutia) and Krasnoyarsk region, P. Grachev said.
