In January, Ukrainian coke-chemical plants decreased production of metallurgical coke of 6% moisture content by 39.6% as compared to the same period of the previous year to 900 thousand tons.

According to association of coke enterprises Ukrkoks (Dnepropetrovsk), the coke output increased by 1.1% as compared to the previous month.

At the same time, in December 2014, the coke production was 890 thousand tons, in November - 850 thousand tons, in October - 849 thousand tons, in September - 649 thousand tons, in August - 738 thousand tons, in July – 1 285 million tons and in June – 1.373 million tons.

According to general director of Ukrkoks Anatoly Starovoyt, currently a difficult situation is at the enterprises of the mining and smelting complex.

"Now, the situation is complicated as with coals, as with the work of enterprises. There are stops, and fires - all together. What kind of stable operation we can talk about, if they shoot? EMZ (Enakievo metallurgical plant) stopped, Azovstal and Mariupol metallurgical plant n.a. Ilyich can stop. And if they stop - so where to supply the produced coke?"- said Starovoit.
