In January, Chukotka doubled gold production

In January of 2014, Chukotka’s enterprises increased gold mining by 114% as compared with the same period in the previous year to 2654.2 kg, and silver by 10% to 13.6 tons, a representative of regional department of industrial policy reported to the agency Prime.

All gold was mined at ore deposits; production of placer precious metals is seasonal in the region and usually lasts in May-September.
