In 2014 the Russian banks increase their gold purchase by 8%.

In 2014 Russian banks entered into a contract for the purchase of 195.891 tons (6.298.000 Oz) of gold from the mining companies, which is 8% more than in 2013, almost 70% of the all gold produced in Russia for the year, a source in the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation told the Prime.

According to the forecast of the Union of Russian Gold Producers in 2014 the production of primary gold in Russia increased to 248 tons, and the total production of the precious metal rose to 280 tons.
