Bulgarian Stream to replace South Stream?

Recently, the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev said in Parliament that Bulgaria was negotiating with the European Commission on the feasibility of an abbreviated version of the failed Trans-European project South Stream, through which Russian gas was to be delivered to Europe through Bulgaria. The fact that the negotiations on the issue are held with the European Commission, is very good, because under its pressure and, according to its orders, the initial project was defeated. As a result, Bulgaria experienced a strong disappointment, and felt like a victim of confrontation between the two superpowers, but, nevertheless, didn’t give up its intention to play a significant role on the European gas market. It was when Sofia announced a very frivolous and vague idea about the formation of our country as gas distribution center for close and more distant European countries. After Russia, disappointed with the behavior of Europe and, in particular, Bulgaria, paid its attention to Turkey, as an alternative route to supply its gas to Europe, the aforementioned idea hung in the air. The European Commission didn’t consider it for the simple reason that such gas centre on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast could distribute only sea water, nothing more.
