Bulgaria offers to create a hub for Russian gas in its territory
Bulgaria has offered the EU to finance the construction of Bulgarian gas hub at the outfall of the South Stream gas pipeline from the Black Sea, the Novinite reports. The Bulgarian authorities didn’t rule out that gas from this hub can be sold to the Ukraine too.
In early December, Russia abandoned the South Stream project, which should be constructed under the Black Sea and through Bulgaria to deliver gas to Western Balkan republics, Hungary, Austria and Italy. The project was abandoned, including because of the non-constructive attitude of the European Union. Instead of it, it was decided to build a pipeline to Turkey and build a gas hub on the border with Greece for southern European consumers.
