It’s impossible to resume in full oil production at Kashagan before the end of the year

It’s impossible to resume in full oil production at the Kashagan deposit before the end of the year wich has paused due to a gas leakage at the pipeline. The CEO of Total C. de Margerie claims that it’s much more complicated than pure pipes repair. The consortium of the project participants is interested first of all in reliability and longevity of operation of the Kashagan’s pipelines.

Oil production was paused there on September 25th due to gas leakage at a transporting pipeline. The Minister of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan U. Karabalin claimed then that the accident would not influence achievement of commercial oil production at the deposit. On October 6th, production was resumed after completion of repairs but was paused again soon after.
