40% of large Russian refineries postpone completion of modernization

15 large Russian refineries have postponed their  work on modernization for a period from one year to four years, the RBC reports. Among these enterprise are almost all oil refineries of Rosneft, as well as the Kirishi and Yaroslavl refineries. Because of this in a few months - when Russia switch over to consumption of fuel of only Euro 5 standard – a fuel shortage may occur in the country.

According to the RBC, Rosneft has postponed the upgrade and repairs at eight of nine its plants. Also the modernization of the Kirishi refinery of Surgutneftegaz, the Yaroslavl refinery of Slavneft, Gazprom neftekhim Salavat and three plants of independent companies - Afipsky, Mari and Il'sky refineries are delayed. The edition reports that the oil companies don’t comment on the information, only the Kuban oil company confirmed that the completion of the modernization of its Il'sky refinery was postponed.
