Gazprom is sure about a settlement in the dispute on the branch from Nord Stream

Gazprom plans to settle the dispute on the construction of the gas pipeline-branch Nel from Nord Stream on the territory of Germany and is sure that it won’t influence on the period of the project’s realization, the deputy CEO of Gazprom, CEO of Gazprom export A. Medvedev said in the interview to channel Vesti-24.
A few km of the pipeline are left and I’m sure that it will be settled and won’t influence the period of construction, he said.
Mr. Medvedev said that the Court decision didn’t ban the construction of the entire gas pipeline. He added that the 1st commercial gas is planned to be pumped via the Nord Stream in October-November 2011.
The German court has stopped the construction of the Nel gas pipeline, the North German branch of Nord Stream. Nel is meant for the Russian gas transportation from the point of the underwater pipeline Nord Stream appearance on the surface in Lubmin in the direction of Reden in Lower Saxony. All the approval procedures for Nel pipeline were completed in the summer 2008, the project works launched in 2009.
The claims against the construction were submitted by the citizens of Lunenburg (Lower Saxony) via which Nel should be laid. The citizens were not satisfied with the gas pipeline would lay 30-50 km of their houses, on the territory of a school and a sports ground while the experts said that there shouldn’t be any living building within 350 meters of the gas pipeline. The Supreme Arbitration court of the city satisfied the claims of the citizens based on the safety issues.
The court explained that the route was planned by the local subsoil department for mining industry, energy and geology. The Court suggest the agency and also the consortium of companies that construct the gas pipeline – E.On Ruhrgas, Wingas (a JV of Wintershall and Gazprom) and Gasuine jointly developing the alternative variants of laying. The periods were not determined in the court, the companies and the agency refused to comment. A representative of E.On Ruhrgas H. Roloff said that this problem is local and other parts of Nel are under construction.
Nel will connect Nord Stream with the European gas network. Natural gas from Russia will be transported to Germany and other EU countries, to the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Great Britain. With joining the project Gasuine’s gas networks in Germany and the Netherlands might be integrated in the common conception.
The planned investment into the pipeline project amount to about €1 bln, OilGasField.ru referring to RIA Novosti reports.
