Vladimir Putin offers Europe itself to solve problem of supplies from Russia
As the Kommersant predicted, Vladimir Putin starts to switch gas relations with the Ukraine over to the European Union. The President directly and officially warned the largest consumers of Russian gas in Europe about the threat of the stoppage of deliveries because of the Ukrainian crisis. Russia demands urgent negotiations, and with each country individually, pointedly ignoring the attempts of the European Commission to create an all-European gas stand. The Kremlin’s move should strengthen Moscow's position during the negotiations on settlement of the Ukrainian problem in format “3+1” on April 17th, complicate the consolidation of the West’s approach and switch over the discussion around the Ukraine from geopolitical sphere to a practical one.
