Kazakhstan won’t make allowances on gas price

Kazakhstan dropped a hint to Russia: if the countries don’t agree on the best gas price, the former will look for the alternative ways of gas exports.

Last week the Vice-Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, K. Kelimbetov, and Minister of Oil and Gas, S. Mynbbaev, said that Kazakhstan and Russia can’t decide on the best variant of the agreement in the oil and gas sector. Both of them admitted that Kazakhstan will look for the alternative ways of the Karachaganak gas exports. China is said to be the alternative to Russia. Meanwhile the head of the Group of risk evaluation, political analyst, D. Satpaev, thinks at the present time the priority for Kazakhstan is not the gas exports but the satisfaction of the country’s domestic needs.
