Gazprom creates a new mechanism for export sales

Against the background of its deteriorating relationship with the main foreign consumer the European Union, Gazprom prepares to launch a Russian exchange, trading export gas. Recently created in the company the trading department will be engaged in this. It is unclear whether the project will be the beginning of a radical change in the working conditions of Gazprom with consumers or is it just about insurance of problems with transit through the Ukraine. In any case, according to the source of the Kommersant, Gazprom will need a major European partner for the success of the project.

The trading department, which will create a new Russian stock exchange for trading export gas, will appear in Gazprom. According to the monopoly, the department will have five directorates, including "logistics and customs provision of the stock trading". A candidate for the post of the department’s head must have "knowledge of the logistics pipeline system in the territory of Russia and the EU" and "customs procedures at the registration of gas export through pipelines". A separate unit will focus on changes in legislation and work with government agencies.
