Rosneft follows the pattern taken by Tehran: Russian companies may challenge sanctions at courts

Rosneft, against which the EU and the United States has imposed sanctions, may challenge them in the international courts. There is experience of successful trials against sanctions: for example, companies from Iran could achieve their removal.

Rosneft has announced the purchase from a single supplier of legal services "in connection with the challenge of economic sanctions and the protection of the interests of the company and its subsidiaries, as well as any other legal issues". The state-owned company estimated the work at 17.7 million pounds (but declined to comment).
