“Yassy-Ungeny” gas pipeline to be expanded using EU funds

The EU is about to grant EUR10 million for the expansion of “Yassy-Ungeny” gas pipeline, the largest project to join the gas transmission network of Moldavia and Romania.

The pipeline will be expanded as far as Kishinev, according to the information, published on the web site of the Ministry of the Economy of Moldavia.

The part of the gas pipeline (appr.700 meters), put in operation in late August 2014, goes under the river Prut, another part (11 km) goes via the territory of Moldovia. Its construction was valued at EUR 26 million, of which EUR 7 million has been granted by the EU. Gas supply was to start in early September, but it did not happen so far.
