Russia is going to develop Cuba’s oil deposits

Russia and Cuba are going to close a number of their cooperation documents during the visit of the Russian President V. Putin to Havana planned for July 11th. The agenda includes closure of 10 agreements including for cooperation of the Russian Rosneft and Zarubezhneft with the Cuba’s state oil company Union CubaPetroleo. They are going to jointly develop Cuba’s shelf oil deposits. The total oil reserves are 20 billion barrels under the evaluation of the Cuba’s corporation but the geological service claims that total reserves are not more than 9 billion barrels. Now the Cuba authorities have closed the contracts for the shelf deposits development with several states: Brazil, Venezuela, Vietnam, India, Spain, Canada and China.
