Firtash’s plant receives 5-year license for supply of 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year
The plant of the Ukrainian billionaire Dmitry Firtash has received a five-year license for the supply of 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year, the news agency UNIAN reports.
Today, National Commission, which regulates the energy sector, adopted a decision to issue the five-year license on the supply of natural gas in the volume of 1 billion cubic meters per year under the unregulated tariff to Rovnoazot. The plant is a part of the holding company Ostchem of the Ukrainian businessman Dmitry Firtash.
A representative of Rovnoazot reported at the meeting of the Commission that the company consumed 50-60 million cubic meters of gas per month. However, he didn’t specify where Rovnoazot would buy the gas, and to whom it planned to sell the surplus.
At the end of February of this year, the Commission allowed RGK Trading, controlled by Firtash, to the increase annual supply of natural gas more than 7 times to 3 billion cubic meters (from 0.4 billion cubic meters).
The gas reserves in the Ukrainian underground gas storages that belong to the Ostchem Holding company made up 4 billion cubic meters on June, 1st.
Previously, Naftogaz Ukrainy claimed that the underground storages of the Ukraine accumulated 14 billion cubic meters of gas. Similar information is presented on the website of the European Association of Gas Storage facilities.
