Import substitution well packer has been worked out in Bugulma

TatNIPIneft (Bugulma, Tatarstan) has worked out a behind-the-casing self-packing cup packer. It is meant for the application in the structure of casing pipes for separation of productive and water bearing horizons. It is done by means of sedimentative cement packing and cup swelling. Due to that the quality of well cementing in the interval of productive horizons increases. The growth of the specific depression in the separation interval of up to 7 mPa/m.

The behind-the-casing self-packing cup packer allows to increase the reliability of separation of the annular space in the well at its fixing, development and operation, preventing the movement of various liquids (oil, water) up and down by the annular space of the well.

The behind-the-casing self-packing cup packer can replace imported swelling packers. The authors think that it allows to reduce the prime cost of works on the separation of the annular space due to the low prime cost and simplicity of its installation in the well that requires not more time than the installation of the centralizer at the casing pipe as well as accelerate the works on the construction of wells in general.
