Kashagan may be closed at least till 2016

Kazakhstan's Kashagan oil and gas condensate field may be closed for two years.

According to a source that is close to the project, during this time says that special pipes will be produced that can withstand the exposure to toxic gas.

Previously, it became known that Kashagan may suspend its activity until the summer, and perhaps longer. The news is that  oil production will be stopped until 2016, and maybe even till 2017. 55 miles (88.5 km) of two pipelines - one for oil and one for gas – will be replaced by pipes of expensive nickel alloys.

At the same time, the Kazakh Minister of Oil and Gas, Uzakbai Karabalin said that it’s impossible to call the date of the resumpmtion of production at Kashagan now.
