Construction of TANAP to start in Turkey
The Presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan, T. Erdogan and I. Aliev, will participate in the ceremony of the start of construction of TANAP on March 17th in the Kars province in the north-east of Turkey, the Minister of Fuel and Energy of Turkey, T. Yildyz, said.
TANAP presupposes the construction by 2019 of a system of gas pipelines from the Azeri deposit Shakh-Deniz via Georgia, Turkey, Greece, Albania to the south of Italy. It is planed to ship 6 bln cubic m of gas to Turkey and 10 bln cubic m to Europe by them. In future the capacity of the gas pipeline might be increased to 31 bln cubic m.
According to T. Yildyz, at the construction of the gas pipeline about 1.3 mln tons of steel pipes with the value of about $1.5 bln will be used.
“In total 200 thousand tons of pipes will be produced overseas and 1.1 mln tons will be shipped by the Turkish producers. I stand for their participation in large energy projects as we have enough modern technologies and production capacities”, the Minister said.
