Konstantin Simonov: Innovation technologies are the future of oil production

The oil and gas sector is one of the most important locomotives of Russian innovations, the General Director of the National Energy Safety Fund. Konstantin Simonov said.

As he stated, the problems of innovations and oil and gas sector are at two opposite sides. “Many people believe, the oil and gas sector and innovations have nothing in common. Actually, very much is said about innovations as we see that oil and gas industry often rejects its innovation rights and participation in the innovation process”, Simonov believes.

He noted, oil and gas industry have strong multiplicative properties and can stimulate the demand for products in neighbouring sectors, e.g. machine building and shipbuilding. Simonov listed Norway and Brazil as the examples, as oil and gas industry in these countries is the strong factor of the state development. “Oil and gas industry is the strongest innovation factor all over the world”, he emphasized.

Serious changes are happening in Russia, he says. “Innovation solutions will play they part in Eastern Siberia and result in building of new oil and gas provinces”. Simonov added, some records had already been set in this sphere.

Konstantin Simonov has also assessed Tyumen Western Siberian innovation centre. “It is good that such supportive measures exist and the industrial park in Tyumen has exceeded the bounds of the oil and gas sector”, he summarized.
