Further prospecting operations of SOCAR on the Caspian Sea will depend on the construction of a new floating drilling unit.

As the head for drilling operations of the company Sh.Bekirov said to Fineko/abc.az, the most powerful floating unit on the Caspian Sea is planned to be constructed at the Baku ship-building plant on the request of BP. It will be able to drill on the depth of the sea up to 1 thousand meters. Minimum depth of the well, which is possible to be drilled from the unit will make up 8 thousand meters, maximum depth – up to 20 thousand meters,” Sh.Bekirov said.

According to him about 2 years are necessary for the construction of such facilities.

BP made a request due to necessity to explore deep-water structures Asiman and Shafag.
