Kazakhstan to produce petrol out of brown coal from April 2015

The respective innovation project was represented at the Forum for innovation development of Almaty with the participation of N. Nazarbaev.

According to the Ministry for Investment and Development, the “Technology of petrol and diesel fuel production out of brown coal of Kazakhstan” is developed by the “Institution of coal chemistry and technologies” in partnership with the companies from Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk and Omsk.

The unique nature of the project is that a low-temperature plasma that leads to the rise of reaction speed and selectiveness has been applied for the first time in the production process. In the framework of the project a metal alloy out of the ash of processed coal, molecular hydrogen as well as carbon nanotubes has been produced.
