Foreign companies ask Ukraine to provide guaranteed shale gas production

The Ukraine can considerably increase shale gas production within the next 10 years with the help of  foreign companies but only if the state provides them with advantageous terms, the director of the programs of Brookings Institution. Steven Pifer says. Mr. Pifer used to be the Ambassador of the USA in the Ukraine in 2012, and was responsible for the politics with Russia and the Ukraine in the White House and the US State Department.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Ukraine and the American oil and gas company Chevron signed on Tuesday the PSA on shale gas production at the Olessky site in Western Ukraine . Earlier they closed PSA with the British and Dutch Shell. Before the end of the year they are going to close a contract for geological exploration at the Black Sea shelf with the American corporation ExxonMobil.
