Serbia trades plants for gas again.
It wants to pay "Gazprom" with the assets.
Prior to the scheduled visit on October 16th of Vladimir Putin to Belgrade, the Serbian government has named its terms of cooperation with Russia. So, Belgrade once again raised the question of repayment of the debt for Russian gas with petrochemical assets. The Government proposes to transfer its "Petrochemicals" to the NIS, controlled by "Gazpromneft", against which the Russian company has constantly objected. But the RF Ministry of Energy is now stating that it supports the repayment of debt "in any way."
Serbia is ready to repay the debts for gas to "Gazprom" with assets, primarily of the petrochemical company "Petrochemicals". Yesterday, Ivica Dačić, the Foreign Minister of Serbia, after talks with Alexander Novak stated: "We talked today and agreed to repay this debt through the property, in particular through "Petrochemicals"". "Gazprom" declined to comment yesterday. The RF Ministry of Energy reported "the Kommersant" that "the parties are planning the possibility of payment of the debt share in "Petrochemicals"", the Ministry supports the repayment in any way. "
