The Atyrau oil refinery to increase petrol production 2-2.5 times by 2016.

Kairat Urazbaev, the Director-General of the Atyrau oil refinery (ANPZ), commented upon the the shortage of combustibles and lubricants. Recall that there is no AI-95 and AI-98 gasoline in the Atyrau region in the free market, at some gas stations it is sold only via coupons. AI-92 gasoline is not always present at all filling stations, Kazinform reports.

Kairat Urazbaev explained how petrol shortage in the country is associated with the reconstruction of ANPZ.

"Under the FIIR state program the large-scale projects are implemented – the facilities for the production of the aromatic hydrocarbons and deep processing of oil worth several billion dollars are constructed. The implementation of these projects involves the construction and commissioning of the modern processing plants and other facilities aimed at increasing the range of products, including petrochemicals - 133 thousand tons of benzene and 496 thousand tons of paraxylene per year", - he stated.
