United Shipbuilding Corporation to risk to lose Zvezda – a super-shipyard may be given to Rosneft and Gazpromnabk

The Government has again sharply criticized the pace of the "super shipyard" Zvezda's construction in the Primorie region, which will receive orders for the offshore projects of Rosneft and Gazprom. According to sources of the Kommersant, in the end Zvezda and the 82nd shipyard may be transferred to a separate "shelf center", which will be actually out of control of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK). Rosneft and Gazprombank may receive up to 80% of this centre’s shares.

Yesterday, the Vice Prime Minister, Dmitry Rogozin held a meeting of the military and industrial commission under the Government, where one of key projects of the state OSK was discussed – the construction of the super-shipyard Zvezda in the Far East. This shipyard, founded in 2009, must construct ice-class vessels and gas carriers for the shelf projects of Rosneft and Gazprom. The absence of concrete dates provoked a severe attack of the Assistant to the Russian President Andrei Belousov. In turn, Dmitry Rogozin said that the Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov would answer with his head for the Zvezda construction and asked the General Procurator’s Office to inspect “possible financial violations” of the OSK’s management.
