KazMunaiGas negotiates continuation of exploration of pre-salt sequences of Kurmangazy structure at Caspian shelf with Kazakh Geological Committee

“It is too early to give up on Kurmangazy block, as the discussions of the prospects of the pre-salt sequences of this structure still go on”, the source reports.
Today there is only a preliminary arrangement of the projects’ operators about its closing. In 2006 the first exploratory well drilled at Kurmangazy block at the shelf of the Caspian Sea (jointly developed by Rosneft and KazMunaiGas) turned out to be dry.
