The Ministry of Energy reports that in 2012 Russia reduced gas production by 2.2% to 655 billion cubic m. The leading producer Gazprom reduced gas production by 5.1% to 482.3 billion cubic m. Gas exports reduced by 8.7% to 186.1 billion cubic m. The tendency continues from the beginning of the current year due to rapidly growing competition with other suppliers and shale gas production by some states.
